About this sheet
What is on the page, and how to get the most out of it.
Six rows of drinks: juice glasses, milk bottles, water glasses, lemonade, hot chocolate and coconuts, each with a box for the number.
The containers here are close to identical in outline. A juice glass and a water glass differ mainly in what colour they are filled with, which means your child has to attend to a smaller difference than on any other sheet in this set. Rows of near-identical items are where miscounting happens most, because the eye slides across them without registering separate objects.
That makes this a good sheet to use once counting is already reliable elsewhere. If your child counts fruit correctly but goes wrong here, it is not a counting problem. It is an attention problem, and it is worth knowing the difference.
The coconut row is the one Indian children recognise immediately and most printable worksheets from elsewhere would never include.
What your child practises
The containers look alike, which makes this more about careful looking than about numbers.
- Counting near-identical items accurately
- Attending to small visual differences
- Checking an answer by counting twice
- Drink names in Hindi and English
Common questions
My child counts fruit correctly but goes wrong on this sheet.
That is usually attention rather than counting. The containers look alike, so the eye slides across them. Ask for a second count on any row that looks wrong.
What age is this best for?
Ages 3 to 6, though it works better once your child already counts reliably on the easier sheets like fruit or animals.
