About this sheet
What is on the page, and how to get the most out of it.
Rows of stars, triangles, hearts, squares, circles and diamonds, each with a box for the number.
Every other sheet in this set asks your child to count objects: things with names they already use at home. This one asks them to count shapes, and a shape is an abstraction. A triangle is not a thing in the world, it is a property that lots of different things share.
That makes this sheet do two jobs at once. Your child counts, and while counting they have to hold in mind what makes a triangle a triangle rather than a diamond. Ask the name of the shape before each row and the sheet becomes a shape lesson with counting attached.
It is also the most useful sheet here for a child heading into nursery or LKG, because shape naming appears in almost every Indian preschool syllabus and rarely gets practised at home.
