About this sheet
What is on the page, and how to get the most out of it.
Choti stands on the left and her school bag on the right, connected by a dotted line that rolls in gentle waves across the page.
After the sharp corners of the breakfast sheet, this is deliberately smooth. The line rises and falls without ever stopping, so the pencil keeps moving throughout and there is nothing to judge except staying on the path.
Alternating a sharp sheet with a smooth one is worth doing on purpose. The two movements use the hand differently, and a child who has just concentrated hard on stopping at corners usually finds a continuous curve relaxing rather than tiring.
It also travels left to right like the breakfast sheet, so the two work well as a pair on the same day if your child has the appetite for it.
What your child practises
A smooth continuous wave with nothing to judge except staying on the path.
- Keeping a pencil moving without stopping
- Following a gently rising and falling line
- Recovering after a demanding sheet
- Tracing left to right across a page
Common questions
Should we do this after the breakfast sheet?
It works well. The two movements use the hand differently, so a smooth continuous curve feels relaxing after concentrating on sharp corners.
Is this sheet too easy for a five year old?
Possibly, on its own. Ask them to trace it slowly and stay exactly on the dots rather than finishing quickly, and it becomes a control exercise again.
