The line runs vertically like the toothbrush sheet, but it no longer runs straight. It bends left and right on the way down, which means the hand has to keep adjusting direction while still making overall downward progress.
Holding two things at once, a general direction and a constantly changing local one, is the actual difficulty here, and it is a good marker of where a child is. Children who trace a straight line neatly often either flatten this one into a straight line or wander off the path entirely.
The uniform at the bottom makes this a useful sheet for a child about to start school or just settling in. Tracing towards a uniform, and talking about the day ahead while doing it, is a gentler way into that conversation than asking directly.
