A dotted cat face to trace and colour, a dotted uppercase C below, and the line C for Cat.
If you are picking one letter to start with rather than following the alphabet, pick this one. A C is a single curve, one stroke, no lift, no corner and no join. Nothing else in the alphabet is this simple.
It is also the shape that four other capitals are built from. G is a C with a bar added, O is a C closed up, Q is an O with a tail, and S is two Cs facing opposite ways. Getting the C curve comfortable makes a noticeable difference to all of them, which is why letter order by shape beats letter order by alphabet.
The cat face is the harder half of this page. Whiskers are thin straight lines radiating outward, which asks for more control than the letter does. Trace the letter first if your child tires quickly.
