A dotted flower with petals, a stem and a leaf to trace and colour, a dotted uppercase F beneath, and the line F for Flower.
An F is an E with the bottom bar removed: one vertical line and two horizontals, three strokes. Doing these two letters near each other makes that relationship obvious, and children who spot it tend to hold both letters more securely afterwards.
The mistake to expect is an F drawn with three bars, which is to say an E. It happens most when a child has done a lot of E practice recently and the hand carries on with the familiar pattern. Pointing out that the F stops at two is enough.
The flower is the more demanding tracing on this page. Rounded petals meeting at a centre need the hand to change direction repeatedly, which is different work from the letter and useful in its own right.
