A dotted round hat to trace and colour, a dotted uppercase H beneath it, and the line H for Hat.
An H is three straight strokes: two verticals with a bar between them. There are no curves, no diagonals and no joins that need to be judged, which makes it one of the two or three easiest capitals in the alphabet.
It is a good letter for a child who has found A frustrating. Vertical lines are the first direction a hand controls reliably, so an H usually comes out looking like an H on the first attempt, and that matters more for willingness than any single letter does for reading.
The one thing to watch is the height of the crossbar, which tends to drift towards the top. If it sits high enough the letter starts reading as an A without its point.
The hat is a curved outline with a brim, so the page still asks for both kinds of movement.
