What is on the page, and how to get the most out of it.
A dotted tomato with a leafy top to trace and colour, a dotted uppercase T beneath, and the line T for Tomato.
A T is a horizontal bar across the top and a vertical line hanging from its centre. Two strokes, both straight, and it sits with C, H and L among the easiest capitals in the alphabet.
The one judgement it asks for is where the vertical joins the bar. It needs to come down from the middle, and children who are working quickly often drop it closer to one end, which produces something reading as an off balance L or a backwards one.
Coming directly after the S, this is a good pairing by accident. A child who has just wrestled with a double reversing curve gets a letter they can complete on the first try.
The tomato is worth a mention. Alphabet sets usually reach for tiger or train, and a tomato is something your child has seen being cut in the kitchen that morning.

Common questions
My child joins the T stem near one end of the bar.
Common when working quickly. The stem needs to drop from the middle, and pointing at the midpoint of the bar before they start is usually enough.
Is T a good letter after a difficult one?
Yes. It is two straight strokes, so a child who has just struggled with S or K can finish this one on the first attempt.
