An X is two diagonals crossing in the middle. It is the only letter where two strokes cross rather than meet, and that turns out to be easier than meeting, because a crossing point is more forgiving than a join. There is no gap to close.
The usual result is a crossing that sits too high or too low, giving a lopsided X. Perfectly normal and rarely worth mentioning.
Worth being honest about the word. Xylophone is a difficult, unfamiliar term and the X in it does not even make the sound the letter usually makes. Almost every alphabet set uses it because English gives no better option for young children. If your child cannot say it, that is entirely reasonable, and the letter shape is the useful part of this page.
The xylophone itself is good tracing though: a row of bars of decreasing length, which is steady repeated practice.

Why is xylophone used when children cannot say it?
